Short curriculum
I qualified from Bristol Vet School in 2004 and worked in ‘mixed’ practice for 6 years in Suffolk, UK. In 2010, I moved to Nottingham Vet School to do a ECBHM approved residency in dairy herd health and production during which I was based at the vet school for 50% of the time and at a local farm animal practice for the other 50% and I successfully sat my ECBHM exams in July 2013. I am currently doing a 4-year PhD based at Nottingham vet school the title of which is ‘A Bayesian decision-theoretic framework to evaluate and optimise decision making for mastitis control in the UK Mastitis Control Scheme’ which is funded by the BBSRC and DairyCo. The aim of the PhD is to explore the effect of different mastitis control interventions with the goal of trying to predict which interventions are most likely to be cost-effective on a particular farm according to the pattern of mastitis and farm particulars.
